Fit at Five: Indoor Rowing

On this Fit at Five we are taking a look at how some people are reinventing their summer workout, and bringing it indoors during the cold winter months. The Portland Community Rowing Association teamed up with CrossFit Casco Bay last year to create a fun event for both novice and experienced athletes to show off their indoor rowing skills. February 5th marked the 2nd year of the event, and the competition was fierce.

Since rowing is actually a big part in the CrossFit training program the fact that the CrossFit facility is used for rowers to train during the winter makes perfect sense. The indoor rowing machines, called ergs, give a great full body workout.

Circuit - Wherein Sam Knows His Friend All Too Well

Circuit - Wherein Sam Knows His Friend All Too Well

ARE Sam's pals in the village below?

WHY is Sam so worried about the reception he and the Samurai will get?

HOW could Harry get a death warrant on his head so quickly?

WHAT sort of people does Sam hang out with?

Besides drunken samurai? The best kind, that's who? The same kind of people that read today's Circuit, especially if they do so on a regular basis! I don't mean to suggest that drunken samurai aren't the best kind of people. Far from it. I'm only saying you don't have to be a hooch-loving ronin to be a great person. That's all.

Go read some Circuit!

Simply Small: Mainers part of the Tiny Home trend

(NEWS CENTER) -- Could you live in a 400 square foot home? More and more Mainers are answering with a resounding "Absolutely!"

Built with green materials whenever possible and utilizing energy efficient appliances the homes not only cut down on fuel and living expenzes but they appeal to people's increasing will to live in an enviromentally conscious way. It appeals to some people who are being forced to downsize, but it appeals to many others who want to simplify and live as green as possible.

"What does one really need to live? And be comfortable?"says Bonnie Mattozzi. She and her husband built a 400-square foot home in Waterford.  (Mattozzi Maine Project) "We have the two bedrooms. so we have our privacy. Our son has his bedroom so he has privacy. We have the kitchen we have light."
