'Race To Nowhere' Sweeping Maine Towns by Popular Demand

'Race To Nowhere' Sweeping Maine Towns by Popular Demand

I got a really interesting email a few weeks back from a parent in Cumberland. She told me about a mother in Cumberland/North Yarmouth who convinced the Teacher's Association, in Cumberland, to sponsor the money to bring the film 'Race to Nowhere' to the town for a community showing.

The film has already been shown in Cape Elizabeth, Freeport, and many other towns per parent and school requests. Last night (March 1st) was the showing in Cumberland at the Cumberland Congregational Church. Unfortunately I was unable to make it. I mean hey, someone's got to produce the 11 news. I'm hoping the movie is on Netflix. :=)

Even though I haven't seen it, after talking to parents who have I can say it's getting very powerful reviews. I think it's great that parents and kids are showing up to see the film.

HOW is he going to prove his fellow thug wrong?

WHAT was the other thug wrong about?

IS he ready for the provement of his wrongosity?

WILL is really make the first guy feel better to prove his friend wrong?

Yes. Absolutely. If there's one sure-fire way to make yourself feel better, in any given situation, it's proving your friends wrong. Or anyone close to you will do. Family members, co-workers... they'll work, too. Just give it a shot, and you'll see I'm right. Don't believe me? Prove me wrong!

Portland school superintendent lays out budget plan

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Portland's school superintendent unveils his proposed budget plan for the 2011- 2012 school year.

In all, the plan totals more than $92 million dollars and  would include the loss of 82 positions. Superintendent James Morse said the actual number of layoffs will be reduced by voluntary retirements.

This proposed budget reflects a loss of six million dollars in federal funding.

Morse says the budget would allow Portland to expand early childhood education programs, improve special education and start new literacy and math programs. He says there is also a commitment to investments in technology.

Blog Improv! It's interactive blogging

Blog Improv! It's interactive blogging

I started blogging two years ago when I went to California for six months with my friends. We were going to study at Cal State San Bernardino. I had been in maine my whole life and just wanted to go outside my comfort zone, and since I had never traveled further then O'Hare airport in Chicago we decided to head to the wild west. I maintained a daily video blog about my travels and experiences to share with family and friends back home. More about that trip in future blogs.

I stopped when I got back home, and that brings me to this, my current blog that I want all of you to have a hand in making!

I like to tell stories, it's what I do. But for some reason when it comes to blogging my mind goes in hyper active mode where I think of a hundred different things I want to blog about. Blogging is such a strange and unknown concept if you think about it, it's like discovering a new new frontier.
