PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- While the Casco Bay Bridge linking Portland and South Portland is only about 14 years old, it takes a dedicated and knowledgable crew of workers to keep it running.

"You look at it, and most of the drawbridges we have in the state of Maine and all over the country, there's a lot of older structures built in the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's," explained Bill Johnson, the bridge maintenance supervisor for all the moveable bridges in southern Maine.  "This one, just built in 1997, has all the amenities of the newer day and age equipment."

That is not to say the bridge, which at the time it opened was the longest draw bridge in North America,  has not had operational problems since the beginning.

On Sunday Febuary 13, the Italian Heritage Center in Portland at 40 Westland Ave. (behind Westgate Shopping Center) will host an event to benefit Family Crisis Services. Time Pilots, with the help of the very talented Veayo Twins, will be jamming 80's hits between the hours of 5 and 9pm. All ages are welcome! Proceeds go directly to Family Crisis Services.
