WIN A FREE YEAR'S FAMILY MEMBERSHIP TO THE FALMOUTH HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Come to the Museum and correctly identify that month’s object. One winner will be drawn each month from the correct entries In June, July And August.

The Museum is located at 60 Woods Road in Falmouth, down the road from the Falmouth police Department. It is open Saturdays from 10 AM to 3 PM except for holiday weekends.

On June 11th, the Falmouth Historical Society will be opening its museum for the 2011 season with free refreshments and tours. The opening program is focused on reducing our use of the earth’s natural resources and includes a fun filled and learning experience day for children, parents and grandparents of sheep shearing, Alpaca petting, wool spinning, herb gardening and special displays of 1800’s cooking utensils and Baker’s Chocolate memorabilia. Baked goods and herb plants will also be for sale.

Reggae Fest on Peaks Island Returns This Sunday

This Sunday, May 29, 2011 reggae fest will return to Jones Landing on Peaks Island. Every Sunday from now until the end of August, ferry & water taxi loads of locals will all pile onto Peaks Island for an afternoon of beer buckets, reggae music & sunshine! The doors open at 10AM, which may sound waaaaaay too early for some of you on a Sunday, & the music begins at 1PM! The seating is limited and fills up extremely fast [especially the spots in the sun]!  The breakfast pizza & beer bucket specials are always very popular & the drink specials rotate weekly.

Local reggae bands alternate weekly; this Sunday, Stream Reggae & Royal Hammer will be there to kick off the season!

Begins at 10:30 a.m. Route is along Congress Street from Longfellow Square (at State Street) to Monument Square, where parade ends with a memorial ceremony.

From 5-7pm we will open our doors to our newest art installation- "Off Season, Off Shore": A Documentary Art Installation.  Local documentary photographer Lesley MacVane teams up with author Roger Berle to bring you a project that tells the stories of the hardy locals of Cliff Island Maine- Primarily those upholding the islands Lobster industry, the men and women who work extremely hard through all seasons and in all economies to hold up the islands rich yet challenging heritage.

Gorham is proud to be celebrating the 275th anniversary of it's founding.  The entire weekend will be full of fun, rides, and history tours to take us back to our roots.  The events will take place at the Narragansett school on Main St. Memorial Day weekend, May 27- 30. 

The amusement rides open at 4:00 pm Friday evening along witth music by Fiddle Jam and the Don Roy Trio.  The founders festival officially kicks off at 9:00 am Saturday with an opening ceremony were a descendent of Gorham's first settler, John Phinney will be recognized as the festival's honoree.  Capt.

The Planet Dog Foundation Teams Up With the Portland Police Department To Support the K-9 Unit

What:  Dogs and their families are invited to enjoy an evening of baseball while raising valuable funds to support the Canine Unit of the Portland Police Department.

Bark in the Park ticket holders sit in the 3rd base bleacher section with all access to the "birthday section" behind the bleachers.  There will be dogs up for adoption, a grassy relief area, wading pool, canine watering station, dog treats and games for pups and their families.  Dog valets will also be on hand to care for pets so people can visit the concessions.
