Overcome the Fear of Falling

Overcome the Fear of Falling

Spectrum Generations is offering its next A Matter of Balance class at its Muskie Center located at 38 Gold Street in Waterville beginning August 5th.  It will run twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) for 4 weeks from 12 to 2pm.

A Matter of Balance is designed to benefit older adults age 60 and older still living in their own homes or community residences who are concerned about falls, have sustained a fall in the past, or restrict activities because of concerns about falling.  Spectrum Generations offers these classes to help older adults learn practical coping strategies to address the risk of falling and their fears.  Participants in the program learn: to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals for increasing activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and exercises to increase strength and balance.
