A Family Guide to Supporting a Loved One
Scarborough, ME – Hospice of Southern Maine and the Alzheimer’s Association will present several workshops across southern Maine to help families cope with and support a loved one dealing with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
The 90-minute workshop will be presented by Carol Palmer, an RN and program director with the Maine chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.  Ms. Palmer, a former trauma nurse, hospice nurse and lead nurse for the office of adults with mental illnesses also served as a director of forensics and is a Viet Nam era veteran. She has been providing training about dementia and related conditions and behaviors for nearly ten years.
The workshops are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.

Portland Nursery School Annual Silent Auction

Portland Nursery School will be hosting its annual silent auction fundraiser this weekend, Saturday, March 26th.

The auction begins at 5:00pm at the St. Pius X Parish Hall at 492 Ocean Ave. Portland

"Defy All Circumstances" Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Fundraiser

On Saturday, March 26th, students from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine are hosting two fundraisers for one of their classmates who recently experienced a spinal cord injury.  Your participation is encouraged in a 5K run along Portland's Back Cove Trail beginning at 9:00am.  Registration for the benefit race is $25.00, and all runners will receive a t-shirt.  Also on Saturday, March 26th, beginning at 8:00pm, hear the Mallet Brothers Band at the Big Easy in Portland.  Tickets will be sold for $8.00 at the door.
