Deering Players Present “Winnie the Pooh”

The Deering High School Players will present the play, “Winnie the Pooh,” on October 22 at 7 p.m., October 23 at 2 and 7 p.m. and October
24 at 2 p.m. in the high school auditorium.  Tickets are $5 (children under 12) and $7 (children 12 and older and adults). 

Tickets may be purchased in the Deering attendance office on school days from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., by e-mailing Kathleen Harris at harrik@portlandschools.org or at the door.  For more information, please call 874-8260.

Halloween Haunted House and Costume Ball Fundraiser Coming to Mayo Street Arts

Mayo Street Arts will hold a special Haunted House and Costume Ball this Halloween. The fund raising event takes place Sunday October 31st from 6-10pm at Mayo Street Arts, 10 Mayo Street, Portland.  The Haunted House runs from 6-8pm, with live music and dancing 'til 10 pm. Live music by Hobgoblin, The Blue Lobster Troupe, and a Violent Femmes cover band. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children. The Haunted House and Costume Ball supports Mayo Street Arts' programs for youths in the East Bayside community. Co-sponsored by WMPG Radio.

Bob Harmon to Receive Distinguished Citizen Award

Boy Scouts of America to Host Dinner Honoring Distinguished Citizen

Pine Tree Council, Boy Scouts of America President Peter Ventre and the Distinguished Citizen Award Committee are pleased to announce the recipient of the 33rd Annual Distinguished Citizen Award, Robert Harmon, President and CEO of Norway Savings Bank.  The Distinguished Citizen Award honors Harmon as an outstanding individual for his support to the youth of Maine and the community.

Harmon has worked in financial services for over 30 years and joined Norway Savings Bank in 2000. He serves on the boards of Bridgton Academy, Norway Savings Bank and Western Maine Health.

Pine Tree Council Executive, Anthony Rogers stated that, “Bob was selected to be recognized as our 2010 Distinguished Citizen because he exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law in his everyday life.  The annual Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner is one of our most prestigious events of the year.
