Ernest Weidul gets 16 years for manslaughter
PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Ernest Weidul has received his sentence for the manslaughter death of Roger Downs.
Weidul will spend the next 16 years in prison, followed by 4 years probation.
He killed Downs by repeatedly punching him in the face, head and neck after the two men spent the day drinking.
Downs died two days later at Mercy Hospital.
He also had pneumonia that went untreated and Weidul's attorney argued that was what killed him. A jury disagreed last month.
