Salvation Army kettle blitz day
News

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- We are only two weeks away from Christmas and the Salvation Army is doing all they can to draw attention to their annual Christmas Kettles campaign.

To do that they have officially named Thursday Kettle Blitz day.  It's a divisional one day competition among the other Salvation Army Core throughout Northern New England.

Each local unit chooses one of their Kettle stands to be blitzed and they have 12 hours to generate the most income possible. The location that receives the most money will win a monetary award to help them with their local operations.

The Portland core has named Cabela's their blitz location and they are going all out. There will be comedians, brass bands, hot chocolate, and plenty of holiday cheer and also a few star wars characters.

The Portland Core is hoping the Kettle Bell blitz will help them reach their goal of $180,000.
