UPDATE Friday 3:00 PM -- Portland Police say they have arrested and charged 25-year-old Corey Shepard of Portland with elevated aggravated assault in connection with the stabbing Thursday. 

Police said Shephard stabbed Sebastian Kelly at the Sagamore Village in Portland. 

Police say Shepard surrendered to Gorham Police this morning. 

The crime is still under investigation and anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Portland Police at 207 874 8533.

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --  Portland police say a  29-year-old Sebastian Kelley is recovering from multiple stab wounds he received during a dispute with a family member. 

Police are investigating the stabbing that is thought to have occurred at 8 Cabot Street in the Sagamore Village neighborhood of Portland Thursday night. Police say Kelley initially fled after the stabbing to a residence on Bridge Street in Westbrook before being taken to the hospital by a friend.

 Officers first learned of the incident at 5:15 p.m., after responding to Maine Medical Center where the victim was being treated.  Initial indications are that the stabbing resulted after a drug dispute with a family member.  

While no arrests have been made yet, the public is not in danger.  Officers are continuing to search for the suspect who is known to the victim and police. The victim was admitted to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Investigation into this incident is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 207-874-8533.
