Portland's charter school passes inspection on third try
News

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The third time's the charm for Portland's first charter school.

The Baxter Academy for Technology and Science passed its third city inspection Wednesday.

A final decision on issuing an occupancy permit has not yet been made.

The school is scheduled to open in one week. The school failed two previous inspections after fire code and electrical issues were discovered.

Officials ordered a number of interior improvements but some exterior work still needs to be completed, including striping crosswalks and putting in a sidewalk along a section of Maple Street.
