PORTLAND, Maine -- Don’t forget, Sundays on the Boulevard starts this Sunday, May 4, 2014! Baxter Boulevard, with one of the best views in Portland, will be transformed into an urban oasis for bike riding, running, walking, skateboarding and other recreational activities. The road will be closed to cars on Sundays from May 4 through November 9, 9:00 AM – 4:00PM, from Vannah Avenue to Payson Park.
To kick off the first Sunday, city officials, including several city councilors and city manager Mark Rees, will join Portland Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee for a 6.5 mile bike tour of the city to review bike infrastructure that has been incorporated over the last few years. The group will start at City Hall at 9:00AM and arrive by 11:00AM at Baxter Boulevard.
