Portland declares citywide parking ban beginning at 10pm tonight until 6am Thursday

 

PORTLAND, Maine A citywide parking ban for the City of Portland has been declared beginning at 10:00 PM tonight, February 5 and ending 6 am Thursday, February 6th.   

According to the current forecast, a prolonged period of winter weather that started earlier this morning will continue throughout the day.  The city of Portland is anticipating heavy snowfall.

The city of Portland cautions travelers as the blowing and drifting snow will present significant reduced visibility. Drivers are asked to proceed with caution and consider minimizing non -essential  trips during this time. 

The parking ban has been declared so that Public Services crews can clear forecasted snow. The city of Portland will continue to monitor the storm and will evaluate the need for additional parking bans.

PORTLAND, Maine – A citywide parking ban for the City of Portland has been declared beginning at 10:00 PM tonight, January 2nd and ending 6 am Friday, January 3rd.

According to the current forecast, a prolonged period of winter weather starting late tonight and continuing into Friday morning is expected.  The city of Portland is anticipating heavy snowfall…blowing and drifting snow…very low wind chill values as well as the potential for coastal flooding.

With forecasted winds of between 12-28 mph, and gusts as high as 40 mph, the city of Portland cautions travelers as the blowing and drifting snow will present significant reduced visibility. Additionally, wind speed and extreme low temperatures will produce dangerously cold conditions.  Drivers are asked to proceed with caution and consider minimizing non -essential  trips during this time.

Portland declares yellow parking ban downtown tonight

PORTLAND, Maine -- A yellow parking ban for the City of Portland downtown area has been declared beginning at 10:00 PM tonight, December 15 and ending at 6 am tomorrow December 16th. The parking ban has been declared so that Public Services crews can clear and remove snow from the forecasted weekend storm. Last night, city crews were able to clear more than half of the downtown area and are hoping to clear and remove snow from the remaining streets during tonight's ban. The Yellow Zone is an area within the downtown business district that is geographically bounded by:

High Street One Lane Between Congress and Cumberland November 6 and 7

High Street will be one lane between Congress and Cumberland on Wednesday, 11/6 and Thursday 11/7 between 9 AM and 4 PM to allow cranes to install large signs as work on the Eastland/Westin Hotel continues.  The sidewalk will also be closed.
