METRO BUS Holiday Service UPDATE: September 5, 2011

Greater Portland Transit District, METRO, will not provide bus service on Labor Day – Monday, September 5, 2011. The METRO office, located at 114 Valley Street, Portland, will also be closed.

METRO does not operate on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Buses run on a Saturday service schedule on President’s Day, Patriot’s Day and Columbus Day.

METRO, with bus ridership averaging 1.4 million annually, is Maine’s largest public transportation carrier, providing bus service to Portland, Westbrook, Falmouth and the Maine Mall area of South Portland.

MODIFIED DOWNEASTER SERVICE PLANNED FOR MONDAY, August 29

 

MONDAY, August 29, 2011: Because the impacts of Irene likely won't be known until the storm has passed and the railroad has been inspected and cleared to resume train operations, a limited bus schedule has been put into place to serve Downeaster passengers on Monday morning. 

Bus transportation operating on the schedule of Trains 680, 681, 682 and 683 will be available between these stations only:

· Portland Transportation Center, the Wells Transportation Center and Boston North Station. 

Exeter, NH Train Station and Boston North Station.  
No morning service will be provided to or between the following stations: Old Orchard Beach, Saco, Dover, Durham, Haverhill, Woburn.

We are hopeful that Amtrak Downeaster TRAINS will be able to operate on a full schedule beginning on Monday afternoon.  Trains 684, 685, 686, 687, 688 and 689 are expected to operate as usual serving all stations.   Please visit

Irving Oil is offering even more opportunities to save on gas this summer by taking savings directly to customers through Irving Rewards.
