Man police deemed 'dangerous' arrested again in Portland

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Portland police have arrested 51-year-old Steven Ricci Thursday afternoon at his home on Brighton Avenue.

Police say Ricci is charged with two counts of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.

Police report The Portland Police Behavioral Health Coordinator and a Mental Health Liaison were meeting with Ricci for a pre-scheduled follow-up when he threatened them with a knife. Police also say Ricci used the knife to cut off the GPS tracking device from his ankle, which he is required to wear as part of his probation.

Officers took Ricci into custody without incident. According to police he sustained a minor laceration to his ankle while cutting off the tracking device. No other injuries were reported.

Ricci is currently being held at Cumberland County Jail pending an arraignment. The investigation has been forwarded to Maine Probation and Parole for review.
