It was a beuatiful way to end my Sunday...a nice 5 mile walk around the Eastern Promenade down Commercial Street and back. There are a few trails along the way that are definitley worth checking out if you haven't already. For a list of Portland Trails and maps click here.

2011 Spring and Summer Recreation Guides Available

From summer camp to fitness programs, guide features numerous fun and affordable activities for all ages

PORTLAND, Maine – Portland Recreation has released its Spring and Summer Program Guide, which includes information on programs such as summer camps and activities for children and teens, adult fitness and athletic leagues, and aquatic programs for all ages. These fun and affordable programs are great option for families looking for ways to enjoy the summer without breaking the bank. From Little Shin Kickers Soccer for four and five year olds ($26 for four weeks) to a First Serve Tennis Clinic  for five to seven year olds ($32.50 for five week session) to Camps Play All Day Long or Camp Xperience for kindergarten through 4th graders ($150 per week), Portland Recreation has a program for children of all ages.

Portland, Maine--The Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, will host a rare 12:00 Noon game on Thursday, April 28th against the Binghamton Mets. The Sea Dogs are offering a special "Lunch Break" special for fans to come down to the ballpark. Additionally, the Sea Dogs are inviting all senior citizens in attendance the opportunity to "Walk in the Park" after the game.

The Sea Dogs 'Lunch Break' special, presented by 99.9 'The WOLF', is encouraging fans to enjoy their lunch break at the ballpark. The Sea Dogs are offering a Reserved seat ticket to the game, a hot dog, soda, and Sea Dogs biscuit for $10.00. Join us on April 14th for our Annual Shipyard Summer Ale Party.  This year we will be supporting two charities, Portland Trails at all Maine locations, and the Manchester Police Athletic League in Manchester. 

 

One dollar from every Shipyard sold will be donated to the charities, we will be accepting donations, and you can enter to win some great prizes including a pair of Boston Baseball tickets.  A winner will be chosen at each location!

Great Maine Bike Swap

The Great Maine Bike Swap begins this weekend in Portland.  Hundreds of bicycles wiil be on sale at USM's Sullivan Gym Sunday.

Next Sunday the 17th, the swap will take place in Orono. 

Bicycles of all types will be on sale from children's bicycles to mountain bikes.

 The Bike Swap is put on annually by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine.
